CTO for North America | Wasion Americas
Jim Carr is the Chief Technology Officer for North America at Wasion Americas, bringing 37 years of senior leadership experience across the global electric utility industry. He guides technology strategy, product integration, and solution architecture for Wasion Americas’ portfolio, with a focus on advancing AMI capabilities, modernizing utility operations, and ensuring seamless interoperability across metering and grid-edge technologies.
Jim’s expertise spans domestic and international business development, utility business process design, and large-scale AMI program execution. During his 14-year tenure at Trilliant, he oversaw the deployment of more than 15 million AMI endpoints, including electric meters, sub-meters, water meters, gas meters, and streetlights in both the U.S. and abroad. He built and led a global solutions team responsible for positioning, integrating, and delivering electric meter and street-light systems, while creating and managing a global partner ecosystem of more than 40 strategic OEM partners.
Before joining Wasion Americas, Jim held senior operational and product leadership roles across the utility technology and metering landscape. As General Manager at TESCO–Nighthawk, he led the integration of the newly acquired Nighthawk business into the broader TESCO organization and held full P&L responsibility. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President and General Manager at Utility Test Equipment Company (UTEC) for 18 years, guiding product development, operations, and customer engagement for laboratory, field, and meter-shop calibration technologies. Jim also held leadership and product management roles at MeterMesh (Riptide Worldwide), Information Intellect, and Radian Research, driving innovation in meter testing, logistics, manufacturing operations, and utility metering systems.
He is recognized as a subject matter expert in electric meter and communications integration, including ANSI and DLMS/COSEM protocols, network and IT management, data acquisition, and end-to-end AMI system performance. His depth of experience in meter qualifications, testing, and process development continues to influence Wasion Americas’ product direction and customer engagement strategy.
