Abe Ortega’s career spans more than 40 years, beginning with the power industry where he worked for several consulting firms and Florida Power & Light in the areas of design, project engineering, project management, testing, and maintenance. Abe then migrated to international marketing and sales becoming an executive for companies such as Landis+Gyr and Siemens in the areas of transmission and distribution and advanced metering. In 2017, Abe opened his own consultancy firm helping international customers in Latin America and Asia in the areas of business development, marketing and sales strategy and planning, portfolio management, large scale metering projects, regulatory affairs, corporate strategy, strategic alliances, and corporate leadership. In 2018, Abe became an investor and senior consultant for VODA.ai, thus beginning his involvement in artificial intelligence applied to the water industry. Abe eventually became CEO of Primestone, a software company, which was originally one of his clients. Abe has been a senior advisor to several companies around the world, including Hexing Electrical Co. (China), Cuculus GmbH (Germany), Wasion International Co, Ltd (China), as well as for smaller companies in South America in areas such as supply chain, health, and transportation.
Abe holds a BS Nuclear Engineering, and a Nuclear Engineer Degree from North Carolina State University, a Master of Engineering from the University of South Florida, and an MBA from the University of Tennessee. Abe also attended the Siemens Advanced Management Program at Duke University, and the Landis+Gyr Advanced Management Program at the IMD School of Business in Lausanne, Switzerland. Abe also obtained an Applied Business Analytics Certificate from MIT, and an Artificial Intelligence: Business Strategies and Applications Certificate from the University of California at Berkeley.
Abe is happily married and blessed with two children and three grandchildren. He loves traveling with his wife, international politics and world affairs, sports, and works at improving his golf game whenever he finds time from his busy schedule.
